Your body talks
The body is a messaging machine, continuously sending communications to the observable surface about conditions in as well as out of view. These communications are called symptoms and what we need to do is work out what the body is saying. Thus, symptoms such as headache, constipation are seen as clues about an imbalance and not just a problem that needs to be suppressed. We need to paint a picture, through your story to determine the root cause (aeitology).
In Chinese medicine there is four diagnosis methods to aid this: asking; listening; looking; and touching. For example, looking - your tongue is a map of the body and will provide clues. Fun exercise: have a look at your tongue and then family members or friends. You will notice that neither two tongues are alike. There may be spots, thick coating, yellow coating, no coating, cracks, swollen tongue, thin tongue, shaking tongue, red tip, teeth marks.
Touching includes palpating the acupuncture channels to see whether there is tenderness, pain or nodules and, taking your pulses. In Chinese medicine pulse taking is different to western medicine in that it is reading what is happening with the different systems in the body. For example, someone who is highly stressed prone to frustration and has headaches may have a wiry pulse. A person undergoing chemotherapy may be fatigued and their pulse is likely to be thready or if they are experiencing nausea or digestive upset the pulse will be slippery.
Our Clinical Focus

Chronic Health Issue
We understand how frustrating and tiring it is to live with a chronic health issue. Our goal is to see how we can help your body adjust whether that is helping with: sleep issues; digestion; anxiety; emotional distress; trauma; neurological symptoms; fatigue; skin issues; or feeling overwhelmed.

Pain managment
We recognise how debilitating pain can be and its effect on your mood, sleep, wellbeing and quality of life. We seek to assist your pain management goals whether that is: complete pain relief; comfortable as possible; manage daily tasks; return to normal working life; engage in social activities; or a different goal that is important to you.

Process
Initial Consultation
This involves discussing the health history information you have provided plus any goals and expectations you may have. Chinese medicine assessments will be carried out which can assist in providing further insight into your health issue. If appropriate, potential treatment modalities that may be beneficial will be outlined.
After your treatment we will discuss the aftercare and your care plan.
Care Plan
A typical care plan involves a three stage process:
1. Relief Phase
2. Correction/Treatment Phase
3. Maintenance Phase
Each visit will include a discussion about symptoms, treatment response and any changes since the last appointment. There will be regular re-assements using Chinese medicine methods which guide treatment modifications.
